Artist Karren de Gorricho was born of parents from Europe and Asia. The stories of their exotic privileged lives stirred her imagination and set her on a path of exploring the world and its people. Selecting acrylic mixed media to visually express herself, she creates fantasy worlds full of emotions, leading viewers to her work and their own voyage of self discovery. She uses vibrant colors, textures, and universal, archetypal symbols to interweave the stories
of her numerous inner and outer journeys.
Her first one woman show "Memories of Asia" at the Zepher Gallery in Pasadena, California combined acrylic mixed media and oil painting with the photography of her exploits in Asia. The success of this show encouraged her to
dig deeper into her emotional world, ever searching for ways to visually express the whole range of our universal feelings, of love, joy, conflict, loss, and much more.
Her second one women show "Imagining" at the Creative Arts Center Gallery in Burbank, California, continues the use of acrylic mixed media on paper and canvas, with carefully chosen colors to convey mood, feeling,
and places in the world. It contains four collections "Experiences of Humanity", "Mind Travels"," Exploration", and "Mind Travels" that further the unique story telling of a lifespontaneously unfolding.
Her work is currently is being shown in prominent galleries and is a member of the San Fernando Valley Art Club. Her exploration continues and only the Gods know where the journey will lead her next!
